7H Christmas Wrap-up

Up unitl the Christmas break 7H students will be working on the following...
Thursday - Students have a double Social Studies to present their Soldier Presentation - see outline of task on teacher page
Friday - Density worksheet is due on Friday. If you are not going to be here then pass it in before you go. The worksheet is a take home quiz instead of the density task.
7H students do not have to do the density video - BUT they may pass it in to qualify for the 5 bonus same as the other classes.
There will be no test before Christmas break! Enjoy the Holidays

follow up density video

For students that finish the density task sheet and pass it in...
Create a Density Animation video.
Idea: Create a SMART animation that compares the density (in terms of particles packed together) of two different materials. Please make sure that the materials that you choose are the same state of matter (for example don't compare a gas and solid).
Task:
build the animation
record the video
add in background music
podcast
finish the video in .wmv

Since we are unsure about after Christmas - I ask that all videos be passed in before Christmas break.

Looking ahead to Next Week...

8H - continue working on your density task sheet - on Monday we will evaluate a due date and see where to go from there, by the way you should study we may have a pop quiz on Monday

7/8M - We missed most of your class today for the career fair - I hope that everyone enjoyed it. we will start work on our density task on Monday. We will also have a quiz so make sure your study your notes on density and change of state.

7H - We handed back the growing yeast lab and the cells unit test. Reminder to get that signed for a bonus mark and hand it in Monday. We will be having a quiz on density (particles of density, the formula, and solving simple questions with the formula) and doing an inclass activity on density of a pen. After Monday, we will be taking notes on change of state, we will quiz that and do the density task

6P - Most people rocked the test - great job - Remember to get the test signed for a bonus mark. On Wednesday you have the gliders project to pass in along with the time line project.

Reminder to Sign your tests

Students in Grade 7H and 6P are reminded to get your tests signed for Monday (7H) and Wednesday (6P) - having your test signed on this date will get you a bonus mark for your test. Have a great weekend.

Grade 7 H Science

Today in class we started our lesson density, we watched a Brain Pop about density and students recorded notes on the back of their worksheet. Students then worked the rest of class on a density worksheet where they calculated the density of 3 different objects.

Thursday - students will take notes on density and answer questions.

Friday - Quiz on Density, then they will do the analyzing density assignment in class and do the notes on change of state.

Monday - Quiz on change of state and start their density task.

Grade 7/8 Science

We handed back their tests from the cells unit. Students are to get their tests signed and brought back by Friday, if it is returned signed on Friday they get a bonus mark for their test.
Then we reviewed class notes about density and aswered questions pertaining to density of solids, liquids, and gases. Then students started to work on their Analyzing density worksheet.

Students did not finish this task. They should have their own groups work done on Wednesday they will share their data with the class and complete the questions in class (20min to work on this). Then they will do the senteo quiz on Density of particles. After the quiz they will do the notes on Change of State. Once the change of state notes are completed they will start their density task. They will have a quiz on Friday on Change of state. They will have 2 classes to work on their density task, it will be due on Monday at the end of class.

Grade 8H Science Class Today

We reviewed the lesson on Density - students had a chance to review notes that they already took and we answered their questions that dealt with density of particles for solids liquids and gases.

Students then completed an analyzing density worksheet - the answers to these 3 questions and the completed worksheet are due next monday in class.

Looking forward...
Students will do 2 quizes tomorrow. The first is on density of particles and calculating density. The second is on change of state, these notes they already did last week.
After the Quizes they will start a Density task - this is posted on the wiki. Students will answer the questions as they are presented on the page. This is due on Monday as well.

Grade 6 - Flight Unit Test

Review - topics that will be covered on the unit test

- Forces of Flight - Identify and explain the forces of flight (4) and understand when they are ballanced or unballanced.

-Parts of the Airplane - Be able to identify and explain motion and control, parts of the plane, airfoil shape (and changes of pressure), engine characteristics, and angle of attack.

-Plane identification - from class notes be able to recognize types of planes and their specific characteristics.

-Powered Flight - differences between animal propulsion and plane propulsion, forces of propulsion.

-Specialized flight - depending on the type of plane what does that special ability do for flight

- Bernoulli's Principle
